Hi everyone,
I'm a bit confused on the calculation of the 5 years PR.Is it based on the date of wedding or date one starts excising treaty right?Take for instance,someone gets married in 2000 ,gets passport stamped for the first 5 years residency in 2001,and starts working in the same 2001 .When should PR be applied for? 2005 or 2006? Thanks

check the date of expiry of the 5 years stamp. on that expiry date you would have completed the 5 years.
To apply for the PR you will need to send your application in the last 28 days prior to the expiry of your stay.
eg if your 5years expiring in 31dec you will need to send your application no later than the 1 dec.

It is the wedding date or when the EEA spouse started exercising treaty rights, whichever is later. Although you can also stay for 3 months before exercising treaty rights, and that time should count, too.

The date of the permit is not relevant, because it is only a confirmation, not a grant of rights.
