This is the situation:
I've studied and lived in London for some 13 years, am a German national and have worked in Spain for the last two years, where I met my partner with whom I now have a 1 year old son, who is also a German national. My partner is columbian, legally resident in Spain.
I have been offered a post back in the UK and would like my wife and son to follow as soon as possible.
My 1st marriage is due to be divorced in December 2005, and I would like my partner to come and live with me in the UK under the unmarried partner regulation.
I will return to the UK next month and considering the cost of living will rent a apartment at first, until the arrival of my family.
Having read through some of the requirements regarding entry clearance, it seems that I am required to describe my home, demonstrating that it is suitable for my family. How do I get around that, as I will obviously be living in a single-person flat until my family arrives?
My salary will be in the range of 28-30K annum, though we do not have any significant savings. How important are savings to immigration?
What sort of documentation other than proof of income, housing, etc, should I be gathering to make a convincing case?
Any advice on this matter is very much appreciated, as one of the main reasons for leaving London was quality of life. Now I have a family and I would not want to return to London without my partner and son
