Jan 2009?? yr visa is already expired!!

If you mean Jan2010, i have seen in the forums that people have applied 6 months in advance. How ever i have also read a post where application was returned stating that "you need to give a valid reason why you want to apply early".. ill try to find the link..

but if you have a valid reason to apply early better call up UKBA and ask.

I have read it on web that ppl who are on HSMP have to switch to TIER1 before their visa expires is that true.

Thats true. Ideally you should apply for extn (switch to T1) 5 weeks in advance of your HSMP visa expiry. But i have seen people getting through even if they applied more than 5 weeks be4 expiry.

hi,

i called ukba twice regarding the same question, and annoyingly got 2 different answers.. so can't figure out what to make of it...

agent1: said i shouldn't apply before 4 weeks unless there's a valid reason... and she also told that i have to provide proof -- in my case, i need 2 years schengen visa.. but since my uk visa is only valid for months they wont give me a long term... for this.. she said get a letter from the embassy, a letter from my employer and so on... and they will consider my early application.

agent2: said you can apply any time you want, in the points scheme... obeviously they wont issue the visa as per the original expiry date... and their's predefined extension periods mentioned (2 years if ure extending tier 1 g - 3 years if new or swtich from hsmp --- see guidance doc).. and as long as they take you to the 5 year mark for ILR its fine.. otherwise you'd have to apply again.

i am looking to apply early... mention the reason for early app in a cover letter... but no proof or anything as the first agent told
