HSMP Forum JR for ILR - Pre Nov 06 applicants

Post by ramesheuk » Tue May 19, 2009 10:40 pm

Hi Friends,

Congrates to all...

Please could any one suggest what will be case for HSMPians joined prior to Nov,06 but after April 06?
My case:
Initially entered in UK on work permit - July 2005
Converted to HSMP - Nov 06.
Extension under JR - Dec 08.

When can I get my PR? Sorry, little confusion. Because policy didn't mention any thing about those who joined under pre Nov 06 rules.

Thanks and Regards,
ramesheuk

Ramesh,

We will have to wait for 5 yrs to apply for ILR. But i am thinking will we (HSMP pre nov 06) be impacted by the new citizenship bill??

I mean there is a speculation that this will be live by end of 2009 so in that case all the people (pre nov 06) will still be able to apply for ILR or will have to come through the new laws?

Can some one from HSMP forum please reply?

Hi All,

The following is the latest update provided in ukba website under the link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary

Please read this!!

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... 9/#header2

If you applied to the HSMP between 3 April 2006 and 7 November 2006, received an approval letter and came to or stayed in the United Kingdom on the basis of that letter
You are still required to complete a period of five years' continuous residence in relevant immigration routes before you can apply to settle in the United Kingdom. This is because you did not enter the HSMP until after the Immigration Rules had changed on 3 April 2006. However, you do not need to meet the 'Knowledge of language and life in the UK' requirement as part of your settlement application.
