Entering the UK prior to EC start date?

Hi all,

I have a question regarding entering the UK. I recently got my EC visa stamped to begin October 18, 2005. However, there's a possibility I may need to enter sooner due to work related issues. Has anyone had this situation? What are the possibilities? Moderators, please advise. Thank you.

If you need to enter the UK before your HSMP visa date then I presume that would amount to visiting and you would need to get a visit /tourist visa if you are a visa national.
