Need Help for Tier 1 - General

Post by Padma » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:56 pm

Hi All,

I am planning to apply visa under tier 1 (general) category in the next week. (8 - 12 June).

I have collected the following documents and have some queries regarding the application.

Could anyone clarify.

I have gathered lot of information for tier 1 from this forum.

Following things I would be submitting.

VAF9 Form
Appendix 1
UKBA points summary
Main Covering letter

For Age proof : Evidence - Original passport

Qualifications : MSc (master's degree)
Evidence - Masters degree certificate

Earnings : 01 June 2008 - 31 May 2009
Evidence -
1. pay slips along with stamp and sign of HR
2. 12 months bank stmts with stamp and signature of authorized bank person on official stationery with logo and Name
3. ITR 1 and form 16 for last 2 years
4. Compensation review letter (since we receive compensation letter online, I have the printout on a plain paper, so I have got it stamped and signed by HR)

English Language : My University and bachelor's degree is present in UKBA site, hence no additional documents required.
However, I am submitting below documents.
Evidence -
1. Letter from Institution saying my Bachelor's medium of instruction was in English
2. Bachelor's Degree certificate.

Maintenance Funds : Maintained more than 2.5 Lakh INR (more than 2800 pounds) from last five months in salaried account and ensured that the balance never fell below 2.5 Lakh even for single day.

Evidence -
1. Letter from bank stating the balance is maintained for a period of last five months with min 2.5 Lakh INR on official bank letter with stamp and sing of bank person (Bank name and logo is present on letter head)
2. Five months bank stmts on official stationery with stamp and sign of bank person (Bank name and logo is present)

I have the following queries with respect to the evidences Could anyone clarify them.

1. While obtaining the points from UKBA, in the 'Past earnings section', I have chosen ‘Enter my earnings’ option and not ‘Select the relevant band’ option, because when I choose the band ‘Under 20,000’ I don not get any points over there (My package for last one year is 13,57346.66 which if converted to GBP comes to 17531.6 GBP so its under 20,000 GBP band)
Is it correct to choose the first option?

2. With the first option, I have converted my salary into GBP with the conversion rate of 03June2009. (I am planning to apply in the second week of June i.e. from 8th June to 12th June).
Is it correct to use the conversion rate as of 03June. What
date’s conversion rate should be used?

3. In the section of ‘Maintenance of Funds’ which day's conversion rate should be used. Is it ok, if the conversion rate of the date when bank authority gives the letter is used?

4. I am a married female (from Maharashtra) and my first name as
well as surname got changed after the marriage. All my educational certificates are with the maiden name whereas my passport (since it is issued after marriage) and current documents (official docs) are with the new name. Is it fine or I will have to submit marriage certificate along with the application?

5. In addition to the above, I have drafted covering letters for all the sections, which mention ‘How many points I am claiming for that particular section, the evidences enclosed and contact details of person to verify documents.
Is it ok?

You should choose 20000 Band if your Income is 20000 or more. I think below earnings of 20000 GBP you donot get any points now.BUT if you are applying from outside UK you can apply the "Uplift ratio". See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... s/#header5for more details.

the conversion rate should be used as on the last date of your earnings claim.so in your case ot should be 31st May 09.

yes that should be fine.

i am not sure but i think u should be Ok as long as u submit your marriage certificate and explain this in the covering letter.
5. In addition to the above, I have drafted covering letters for all the sections, which mention ‘How many points I am claiming for that particular section, the evidences enclosed and contact details of person to verify documents.

I think one covering letter should be OK....but u can mention your "Points Claimed" at the begining of each section like a title page.

Thanks for the quick reply. In the earning section the link provided, I think it is for the people already working in UK. I am working in India and planning to apply from outside India. So, As u mentioned, I think I can use the uplift ratio. Thus when I choose the option of 'Enter my salary' and convert it with a conversion rate it gives me around GBP 17,000 and gives me 45 points for the earnings.

Thanks once again.

I have another small query now,

I have heard from one of my friends that, while applying we need to provide the name and address proof of someone who is already staying in UK? Is it right. If yes, what kind of document for address proof is required? In case if the person is staying on rent there, then what document can be produced.

Please provide me the reply.

Hi Padma,

I am afraid what ever you have heard about the accommodation proof is not true.
In case of Tier1 it is absolutely not required to provide the acccommodation proof so nothing to worry about. And your case looks simple and straight fwd. You are ready to go mam. All the best.

Even then if you would like to produce the proof, you could ask for the scaned copies of your frns passport + visa and the rental deed. These should be more than sufficient.

Happy to Help,
Ash.
