Hello everyone,
I am a French citizen and I am engaged to a resident living in the USA. Actually, I live in France, and when we have the possibility, we see each other during our holidays.
He has the green card since 4 years, and he is going to send an application for the US citizenship in August 2009.
We would like to get married but we do not know how to proceed in order to wait the less time and be finally together legally in the USA.
1) Is there a possibility for me to marry him just before his citizenship application, for example in July 2009, and then, make the process to obtain a green card faster?
2) Or should I wait for him to obtain first his US citizenship (i guess in February 2010) and then wait again until i obtain a green card or a visa 'fiancee'?
About waiting for the green card/visa fiancee, do yo know how many months it takes to wait? 6 months, 1 year?
3) About the marriage, where is the best place for us to make it in order to wait the less time for the papers?
- in the USA?
- in France? because some people say that it is easier and faster in the country of the spouse than in the USA? Is it true?
I would like to thank you by advance for reading my post and by the way I am sorry for my poor english...
Bye-bye,
Hana.
