Changing a hearing date (and other questions)

Post by Wazzup » Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:15 pm

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum so go easy on me :)

Anyways, my story is that I reapplied for my wife's visa for the 2nd time back in November 2008 and was told it had been refused in December (again). I then appealed and got my reply today that it was going to an appeal hearing which will be taking place in August!!

Now my problem is that I probably won't be able to make it on the given date because there are already some people off at work, so, does anyone have any experience with changing a hearing date? I know that I have to write to them, but what sort of things do I need to include in it apart from the reason? How soon after do you hear from them when you've sent the letter off?

I'm just a bit worried also that the bundle which arrived today said that the person who had been dealing with it, saw no reason to overturn the original decision of the ECO :(

Whilst I'm here, does anyone have any experience with cold ECO's who just seem to convey no sympathy/expression whatsoever?

Sorry, I know that I've asked quite a few questions, but I'm so worried. I've not seen my wife in a while and I just hope that I don't have to wait another year :|

Just write a brief letter saying that you will not be able to attend court in August due to work commitments and ask them if they can fix the hearing for a day in September.

They will gladly change it for you. However that all depends whether they are any dates available at the court of your choice.

I am sure we can all say something about ECO, but at the end of the day they have a job to do, however it is up to us to convince them with good documents and evidence when applying, thus not giving them a reason to refuse us in the first place

Thanks batleykhan.

I'm gonna take my chances and ask if it can be the week before the date that they have given me as I'd prefer not to delay it further.

Wish me luck :)
