Post by lovely22 » Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:31 pm

Hi,
I have entered this country in 1997 under asylum.I have been given a paper while the asylum process take place. In 2205 my sister sponsored me as family member under uk treaty right where my position is switched.I wish to apply for long residence in UK and I was on my way to meet lawyer this year where I realise my money and documents has gone missing. What should I do next.Should I make a police complaint. Can I get any copy from asylum department of my lost document.I am in real lost as I do not know where to go for advice.would be really helpful if I can get any advice ecspecially regarding the lost document.
Urgently help required!!!

What happened to the application in 2005? Was it an EEA Family Permit/Residence Card application?
If you were granted 5 years as an EEA Family Member, why not wait until you qualify for Permanent Residence, which would be granted almost automatically and costs nothing? An application under the 14-years residence concession can take years and cost hundreds of pounds.
There should be a carbon copy on file of the document you were issued when you claimed asylum in 1997. I've no idea whether they would issue a replacement.
