Hello

My friend applied for Tier1 general visa on the 5th March 2009 back home. He was previously on student dependant visa valid until December 2010.

He travelled back to Uk on the 20 th March 2009 and left his application for tier1 to be considered/processed. On the 27th March, he received an email saying that his visa has been successful and that he has 6 months from his application date to come and take his visa.

On the 5th June he travelled back and got his visa on his passport and was back to the Uk on the 20th June 09.

Visa start date was printed from June 09 to March 2012 .( That's not 3 years? ... but due to the situation explained above, that's what british *high com said.

question:

Will there be a problem whilst extending for another 2 years for tier1 general? ( They* said No).

Can someone please explain ; after the 2 years entension, what should he do? Will be be eligible for IDL?
Or will he have to apply for a second entension in lieu of the period that he left his application (march09 ) to be considered and till he went back to collect it ( June 09).
