Hi

As my son was born in pakistan due to my wife receiving the visa 2 months before his birth so she could not travel to UK, hence we had no other option then to have save birth in Pakistan, i know it is a bit late but now he is one yr old but i just do not know how to go on about getting a passport for him, he came to UK , when he was 4 months old on a pakistani passport and visa?

please i would really appreciate any help and advice on this matter

If you are British otherwise than by descent (e.g. born in the UK), then your child may apply for a consular birth registration and either a British passport or a Certificate of entitlement to the Right of Abode for his/her Pakistani passport.

shaks7, your child may already be a british citizen. Where were you born? Were you married when your child was born?

thank you for all who had replied to my question, i am a british citizen but i was born in pakistan, pretty much the same senario as my son has at the moment.

So you were born a british citizen in Pakistan instead of later naturalizing?

Guru i am not sure ...all i know is i ever only had one passport and that was the british passport as my dad was living in UK in 1960's and he was not born here.

Ok. So you were born in Pakistan and got your citizenship by decent from your father.

Have you lived in the UK, and if so for how long?

You have been in the UK for 11 years?

How old is your son today? He is in the UK now with a valid visa?

he turned 1 on may 2009.

See also Children born abroad to parents who are British by descent and who are now living in the United Kingdom - section 3(5) application. He may register after he has been in the UK for 3 years.

However, this may be subject to change.

Guru my son came here on separate pakistani pasport with a visa and so as my wife as a spouse sep 2008.
