Working hours for student

Hi ,
I would like to know about the work permission. I am on student visa and now a days summer holidays and want to know can may i work full time in summer holidays or just 20 hours a week.

If so, then is it legal on student visa?

Please guide me.

Thanks for your innocent question.
I see most of students(80%) here in UK do jobs that exceed weekly hrs allowed.
I know most of them doing more than 2 to 3 jobs each, that may well exceed 30 hrs per week.I'm not sure when they are going to study.
But there are very less percentage of students who take up serious study.
I guess as per Law thats not allowed, but in reality, they are well exceeding the weekly hrs allowed.

During Holidays you can work up to 40 hours and during term time you can only work up to 20 hours a week.
