ILR for dependents living outside the UK

Post by rzlaks » Fri Jul 24, 2009 4:06 pm

Dear Friends,

I am currently on a Tier 1 visa which is valid until May 2011. My wife and child (10 years old) also have their Tier 1 dependent visas valid until May 2011.

Both my dependents live in my home country.

I will be making my ILR application in April 2011. I plan to call my wife and child to the UK in March 2011 and put their ILR application along with mine.

Will there be any problems if I do so, in terms of their absence in the UK?

Also, I have heard that if I have an ILR my child can be eligible to apply for citizenship? How soon can my child apply for citizenship after getting the ILR with me?

Please advise.

Nope. Your dependent will be applying with you. As far as I know, it is only main applicant's absence considered.

You can apply next day itself after you get your ILR.

have a look at 319E i believe your wife may need to have stayed in the UK for at least 2 years
