Can a Married Couple Apply Individually?

Post by avwifiguy » Sat Oct 01, 2005 7:50 am

Hi Guys,

I and my wife, both qualify 65 points for HSMP.

We will complete our two years of married life in june2006.(so no partner's point...I guess as thinking to apply by Dec05)

However my concern is,

Can we both apply for HSMP(at the same time) individually provided we have separate accounts for the bankstatements(which we will be submitting),separate salary account, separate investment. We are maintaing separate accounts for EC as well.

Eagerly waiting for your replies!!!!

Thanks & Regards

Does that mean husband and wife, both can come to UK under separate HSMP status and both can work under this status(means not being on "dependant status" on either).

you can, but it would be more expensive, especially since you will both at renewal time shell out 335 pounds each for your extensions, wheras if you do it the dependent route one application fee at extension time covers the primary visa holder and all dependants.

hi,

you don't have to both apply. only one of you has to. you can't claim points for your wife, but if you get approved (if you make the 65 points anyway on your own), you can apply for EC together. she will be your dependant. you can also do it the other way around - she would be the main applicant and you the dependant.

there is a 2 year requirement to claim points for spouse. but for EC, you just need to show the marriage certificate and bills you have for however long you have lived together.

good luck! :)
