One year MBA from India

Post by vagabond » Thu Aug 06, 2009 6:10 pm

Anyone here has Tier 1 application experience with the one year MBA from India? (ISB/PGPX/PGPEX). All of these are PGDMs.

Any idea if these are equivalent to the coveted 'British Masters Degree' or is it just the Post Grad Diploma..

I will be applying to NARIC.. wanted to know if someone here already has the information.

Thanks in anticipation

ISB is not even a Diploma - the certificate says "Post Graduate Programme". It is not recognised equivalent to Masters by NARIC. This does not mean that the course has no value - they are ranked 15th in the FT Global ranking. The point is - NARIC uses lists provided by its counterpart in the foreign countries to assess whether or not the degree is equivalent to UK masters. In case of India it happens to be AICTE. ISB has not sought any recognition from AICTE and is thus not on the list. Try points calculator and see if other courses are recognised.

None of PG Diplomas are recognized.

Also, None of these courses (Am more interested in IIM 1 year courses) are AICTE approved. So I presume they won't qualify for Tier 1 then..

That seems to be the case unfortunately.

That really depends on which institution you do it from. IIMs and ISB in India have a very good 1 year MBA (PGPM) offering, so is INSEAD in france. These courses cater to a niche segment of experienced professionals. A sweeping comment like that is not justified therefore.

For anyone still following this thread,

I have just received a letter from NARIC with positive note.
"Comparable to British taught Master's".

Cheers.
