UK Tier 1 General Visa from Tier 2 Visa

Post by sood.rahul » Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:09 pm

Hello All,

I am currently on a Tier 2 visa and it is valid till middle of next year (2010). Initially, I had plans to apply for Tier 1 visa but owing to the change of rules, I cannot apply for the same as I am not a Masters degree holder - I am Bachelor of Engineering - Computer Science.

Can anyone please tell me if there is any possible way for me to get Tier1 General visa without doing a Masters degree?

Thanks in anticipation

New Immigration Rules and Tier 1 application forms published today wrote:From today, anyone who applies for permission to enter the United Kingdom in the Tier 1 (General) category for the first time, or who applies to switch into the Tier 1 (General) category from another category, will need to have a Master's degree and a minimum salary of £20,000 to score points for qualifications and earnings respectively.
Do you have sufficient points without the qualification?

Don't think you can get sufficient points without qualification even if you get full points in all other creterias.

Looking at the current scenerio, even if you score full points in every other category, you are not eligible for T1.. Masters degree is must i am afraid...

Isn't there any work around or something? I mean if a company sponsors me for Tier - 1, still do I need to have a Masters degree? Are the rules for sponsored candidates also the same?

Does it matter from where you have done your Masters and in which field?

You can get company sponsored visa but that wouldn't be Tier-1(General). It would be work permit.
