Time periods for British Citizenship

Hi,

Someone told me that the law had recently changed regarding the length of time a Non-EU national married to an EU national must be resident in the UK (my understanding was that it is 5 years, he said it was 10 years) before being eligible for British citizenship.

I am ignoring this comment because it is evident from the user's previous comments he thinks everything is a joke and has nothing of any value to say.

Would it be possible for someone to give me accurate information. I have searched on the web and have only found that they are talking of introducing a point based system which means it could take UPTO 10 years for someone to obtain British Citizenship, but that it has not as yet been introduced.

I searched thoroughly and now it is like life sentence. you have to die here to get citizenship.
