Dependent to Tier 1 General

All,

I wanted to know if you can convert your visa status from Dependent to Tier 1 general from within UK? Earlier though you could get approval here you have to go to your hold country(for dependents visa holder only) to get Entry Clearance. Now approval and ec is combined ...

Any concrete information will be greatly appreciated.

This is confusing because:

1> EC was done for her even when she was planning to come with me as dependent (along with bio-metric).

2> Now everything is together (approval and EC).
