Applying for FLR(M)

Post by rigstud » Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:42 pm

Hi All,

Firstly, I would like to thank all who have contributed and shared their personal advice on this forum. I have found this perticular forum very helpful.

I am hoping you can now advice me on a query I have.

My wife and I have recently married in the UK. As I am a Pakistani national and come under UK immigration law I had to aquire a "Marriage Visa"prior to getting married. My wife is a British Citizen. I am currently a resident and working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

My question is;
If I am granted further leave to remain in the UK (using form FLR(M)) will I still be able to keep my employment visa enabling me to continue with my work in Dubai

Your advice with regards to my query will be much appreciated.

It depends on what type of marriage visa you have.

You may switch to FLR(M) (285) from a Fiancé(e) visa, but not from a Special Visitor: Marriage/Civil partnership visit (not settlement) visa.

Vinny, thanks for your reply,

Though I am still confused about all this.

So where do I need to go from here and what type of visa do I need to apply for? Is it the settlement form I need to apply for or?

Also, my job requires me to travel every 35 days. As I work as an offshore worker I work a 35 day on & 35 days off schedule. During my 35 days off I would prefer to spend my off time with my wife in the UK as a resident.

Is there anyway I can do this?

To determine the type of marriage visa, need to know the following:

Which application form did you use when applying for the marriage visa?
What is your visa endorsement?
How much did you pay for it?

The application form used for the "Marriage Visa" was VAF 1F

The endorsement is coded letter 'C'

The fee paid was 67 Sterling

I appreciate your help and advice with all of this.
