Sufficient funds in bank account query?

Post by abbas_ali » Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:56 am

Hi all,

I have been told i should have £4000 in my personal account to sponsor my grandparents and you need statements for the previous 6 months. I am only expecting to have £4000 in 3 weeks time or so, shortly after this i want to make the formal application.

Obviously then the previous 5 months or so my account will be short, will this be a problem or should i wait 6 months until all my monthly statements show in excess of £4000?

Thanks

There is no minimum requirement you should have in bank. You have to show you have a steady income coming in and that you can support your grandparents in teh Uk for the time that they are here without recourse to public funds.

Putting a lump sum of money a few weeks or months before an application is made, will almost certainly end up in a refusal. This I am afraid is one of the highest reasons for refusal amongst Ind/Pak applicants.

You need to show at least 6 months of continious bank statements as this will give the ECO a good indication that you do indeed have the money. If you have saved this £4000 over this period, then it should not be a problem and should be sufficient enough for the purpose you require it for.
