Family Visit Visa processing times

Post by seekit » Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:21 pm

Hi,

I had applied for my mum and sister's family visit visa from Lahore in july 09 but they have not heard back yet. The application status appears as Application forwarded to Islamabad OC on. I did contact the abu dhabi visa office and received an email this sunday (I wonder if they work on sundays) that they have processed their applications from Abu Dhabi and sent back. Does anybody know how long will it take to reach the documents back to Gerry's lahore office as I believe the visa decision is already made by Abu Dhabi office?

I am in uk under tier1 visa, and I sponsored them and supplied all the required documents. But Nobody contacted me to check if I sponsored or not. I did provide all my home, office, mobile and email addresses in the invitation letter. I did get two calls from some international number (my phone set didn't show the number) on my home phone around 2 PM uk time but I was in the office so was not able to receive the call. It happened last wednesday and thursday. Do you think it could be from Visa office? Will they not try my other numbers or do they just try home landline numbers?

Thanks

They BHC in Abu Dhabi do not normally ring the sponsor in a foreign country.

It is normally Fedex in Pakisatn who rings the applicant up asking them to call and collect their documents irrespective of whether the visa is issued or not.

So if I was you, I would ring Fedex up to find out.

A word of warning, its a common practice in Pakistan that bogus officials sometime ring you up and tell you your visa is refused, but if you pay them some extra money they will sort it it for you. These people are some bent crooks. Dont pay anything extra. They cant change any decision that is made by the ECO.

So be wary

The British High Commission rarely calls up the sponsor for confirmation, unless there's is something they really need to clarify with you.
They otherwise go on what evidence has been submitted.
So I doubt that one, let alone TWO, phone calls were from them.

Cool, so assume it was not them then.

Does anybody know how long it normally takes for documents to get back to Gerry Fedex after the visa is processed in Abu Dhabi? Is there any other process after that?

Thanks

Just ring Fedex in Lahore they will tell you whether the docs have come back from Abu Dhabi. They wont tell you whether the visa has been granted or not. You will only find out when you collect the documents.

It takes a bout 10-14 days for them to get the docs back Fedex Lahore after a decision is made whether to grant or refuse visa
