When and what means does the home office use to contact your referees .I am asking this question as i have made a application for citizenship and would like to know how they communicate with the referees.
Hi rkudum. My assumption is that they would contact your referees if the need arises by email, telephone or in writing as those are the details requested on the form.

However you might want to note that in Chapter 6 (6.3.6.1) of the case working instructions available on the Border Agency website it says the following and I quote

"All applicants, except those seeking to renounce British nationality, are asked to provide two referees so that we can be satisfied about a person’s identity. We would not routinely contact referees, but may do so on the authority of a senior caseworker if this could resolve any concerns about the application. "

Hi,

Yes, quite lucky I would say. I was only calling them to inform about my change of address from the next month and they advised me that a decision on your application has just me made yesterday :-)

The NCS was based in Hamilton, Scotland.

Very professional and friendly. They pointed out an important point that I should have been in the UK exactly 5 years before making the application.

I was out of the UK on the 7th July 2004 which is why my application was not sent through on the same day. Instead they kept my application in the NCS and sent it on the 14th July 2009.

Congrats on your approval.What is date on your approval letter ? Can you please also tell us whether it is a single or family application ?

I guess it would be really useful to add this info (family/Single) to future upates . Looks like some single applcations are approved within 3 weeks and typically it takes 5 to 6 weeks for family applications.

Naturalisation for wife

Post by willsk22 » Mon Aug 17, 2009 2:37 pm

OK, thanks for the useful posts in the past, here goes....

NCS or Postal : NCS Southwark **

Date of submission Sat 08 Aug 2009 (told would be sent to HO Mon 10th- Tracked with Royal Mail and was delivered 11th to HO Liverpool)
CRITERIA - 3 Yr Spouse
Date of debit of debit/credit card 13th AUG 2009
Date of receipt of acknowledgement 13th AUG 2009
Date of receipt of approval Waiting
Date of Ceremony Waiting
Date of appln. for passport Waiting
Method used Waiting
Date of Receipt Waiting

**(Southwark Council VVV Helpful.. Westminster not at all Basically wife qualified from 1st Aug 2009, but she was working away, I called to book appointment only with Westminster NCS @ Marylebone town hall. They wouldn`t let me book appt for NCS, so had to wait until wife was in UK to do- she works abroad a lot) and when she turned up on Mon 4th, was told no booking was made... REALLY REALLY bad attitude, avoid them and use NCS at Southwark or even Camden if you have to use NCS in LOndon !!!

Congrats. 4 weeks exactly for approval is great going. I half expected the holiday season to have an impact on the timelines.

alina76 wrote:Thank you for replying. UKBA actually send 2 different letter 1 is a decision letter and other one is invitation letter. Apparently sometime people dont get the decision letter and straight away get ainvitation letter.

I have got the decision letter and its asking me to wait for invitation letter. I was just trying to figure out what pattern they are following these days?

Another thing which I have noticed in most cases(I can be wrong though) that when people gey their letter after some days (like you had after 10 days) they get straight away invitation letter but in my case decision was made on 4th august and I got that decision letter on 7th august.

I guess I have to wait now because cant book my ceremony without invitation letter.

Thanks
For everybody's reference, I received four letters:
- Approval Letter;
- General UK Border Agency Invitation Letter (telling me to contact my local council);
- Invitation Letter from my local council;
- Revised General UK Border Agency Invitation Letter (when I asked to change venue to another council).

Hope this helps!
