Maintenance of Funds for Wife and Child

Post by starmit » Sat Sep 12, 2009 12:05 am

Dear friends,

I have been confused a lot about maintenance of funds for dependents:

I am in UK on HSMP Tier 1 visa from 18th Jun 2009. I got my visa on 28th Oct 2008 and came to UK after 6 months gap. Now I have a job and planning to get my wife and 1 child.

If you go thru this site:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... ationform/
and from right side I got the dependents information in pbsdependantspolicy.pdf

On Page 8 point 40, it says that main applicant has to have 800 + 1600 for each applicant.
Also no mention of 90days anywhere in any clause.

So can anyone suggest me.
1) If I keep 800+1600+1600=4000£ maintained for 3 months will I be safe to apply for my dependents? OR
2) Is it OK to have 1600+1600£ for my 2 dependents and I can take a risk?

Request for your kind reply...

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Amit

I think first option is safer than the second one, but wait for responses from seniors.

mvent00 is right..

HO Guidance for Dependents.. Page 7 Paragraph 38

Dependant of a Tier 1 migrant
38. If the Tier 1 migrant is outside the United Kingdom or has been present in the United Kingdom for less than 12 months, each family member of the Tier 1 migrant must show that he/she, the Tier 1 migrant, or (for children) his/her other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom has at least £1600 to support him/her; this is in addition to any funds the Tier 1 migrant needs to prove he/she has enough money to support himself/herself.

So how much is this amount? 800£ OR 2800£...People and all agents in India ask for 2800£. If you see this pdf there is no mention of '2800' anywhere in the document. So why do all ask for this amount after I have had Entry Clearance and have arrived in UK on HSMP Tier 1?

800GBP for u is fine..

please read the paragraph 40 on page 8

40. example, the Tier 1 migrant has
been in the UK for 6 months and is making
an application at the same time as his/her
spouse and two children. He/she must show
that he/she has £1600 for his spouse and a
further £1600 for each child, in addition to
£800 required for his/her own support. In total
the family will require evidence that they hold
£5600 in available funds (£1600 x 3 = £4800
