Urgent Help needed for tier 1 extension(Now approved)

Post by rsc029 » Thu Aug 13, 2009 10:29 am

Hi,
I am on HSMP Visa and my extension is due next month.

I am having one question regarding the education points.

Things is some like that...

I did my diploma in engineering( three year course ). after that i got direct admission in 2nd year of B.E. and did my B.E.

I am claiming point for my B.E. degree.

Now my duration of study is 3 year but degree is of 4 year.

So now in tier 1 form section 3c - s1 I am writing duration of study as 3 year and in Points-based calculator self assessment printout degree is of 4 year long.

I am mentioning this in covering letter explaining this situation is it alright?
as now there is this duration of study field so case worker might get confused seeing this.

SO can you please some one put some light on this and any one else here had same situation.

Thanks.

You r doing right by explaining it in cover letter,
attach any letter of proof for direct adminision in 2nd year BE and once u have the ORIGINAL Degree Certificate.. you shd be good ok as you submitted all the proof n docs you can.. this will atleast won't confuse the case worker..

Are you planning to claim education point on B.E.? Min. reqt is Masters for Tier-1(G) application.

Anyway answering your question,I think you should select the "4 year less than 5" option. Your B.E. is a 4 years course. It is just the facility for Diploma people(due to their technical background) that they get direct admission in 2nd year. But having said that, it doesn't change the "Degree course" which is 4 years. Besides, there is no difference in the degree you receive or in the degree received by a normal student who got admission after 12th and not diploma. Also if you pass the same 4year course in 5-6 years, does it change the course duration? In that case, would you write your degree as 5-6 year.Obviously no, becuase your degree is meant to be a fours year course.

Alternatively, think like this. Your diploma is equivalent to 12th (with additional one year). To make sure you don't loose one year of your academic life, government has given you chance to "jump" on year.

The same is the case the parallel degrees. Many institute(e.g. BITS, Pilani) provide you an opportunity to do masters along with your bachelors and both are valid and accepted by HO.

If I were you, I won't even bother mentioning this in application as B.E. is B.E.

Hi just to avoid any sort of confusion with my extension application.

As per the thumb rule i should not worry about giving this details why there is difference between the duration of study and duration of course.

But to be in safer side i am writing this in covering letter.

or if you all experience people think that there is no need to mention this then i can go with this as well because what I think that my application is just for extension so HO don't have to worry about my education qualification in details instead i guess HO is more interested in checking my earning.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Since you have provided your qualification details in your initial application, you are anyway not required to provide degree certificate. You are not required to mention the GAP in your covering letter. Why raise eyebrows unnecessary? What is harm is keeping thing straight forward and easy to understand. Yes, you are clear from your qualification side. You are fine even if you don't explan the gap(which you think it is).

Yea i don't want to make thing difficult to understand, but i don't know if they notice this gap in document and if i don't clear that in covering letter then i don't know if they do some thing silly with my application...

i called HO in morning and guy said it's OK to mention in covering letter but i am bit confused now bcz some time more details people are not able to digest.

Thanks

In that case, just mention in your application that you have provided degree certificate in your initial approval and your were granted points for that. Hence you are providing not Degree certificate(althoug claiming points for it). This will save your any explaination.

If you are still unsure, explain in cover letter in as simple language as possible.

Thanks buddy,

I am having one more question in most the thread people are saying about the reference number received on some date...

Do you know how they send the reference number?

Can you please check the list of document am i going in right direction or not?

1. Photograph attached in Application form.
2. Passport for Age Proof (passport number: XXXXXXXX).
3. Salary slips for Earning (for the period of 01 July 2008 to 30 June 2009).
4. Bank statements for Earning (for the period of 01 July 2008 to 30 June 2009) account number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
5. Bank statements for Maintenance (Funds) (for the period of 31 March 2009 to 30 July 2009) account number: XXXXXXXXX.
6. Letter from employer stating designation and annual salary.
7. Points-based calculator self assessment summery.
8. Initial HSMP approval letter.
9. Royal mail special delivery envelope.

Please Note: This might be confusing as duration of my Bachelor degree (Bachelor of Engineering) is 4 year in Point based self assessment summery but start and end date of study shows 3 year of study duration in application form section 3C- S1 Duration of study.
This is because I did Diploma in ********** because of this Diploma course, I directly got admission is 2nd year of Bachelor of Engineering (Branch ***********).
Evidence for this previously provided with my initial HSMP application (Degree Certificate) and I was granted point for that.

And a simple note in covering letter.

1. In extension application u do not need to send the proof again as long as u r relying on the same qualification.

2. If u r using a different qualification then proof and all the required documents are required by HO.

3. Wen did u do that course of study (During the HSMP visa 3 initial years)

The Degree itself is 4 years no matter how much time you took (by design or by chance) to complete it.

Hi guys,
Thanks to every one.

Today i got my Tier 1 extension(from HSMP) approval.

I would say try to send Royal mail special delivery envelope with application, so that you can get it early and don't need to wait long.

every seconds is really hard to pass when u r waiting for some thing.

Congrats mate.

Regarding the special delivery envelope though it is really a hit and miss. I completely forgot to send it with my application, so the Home Office sent it to me normally. My approval letter and visa stamp is dated 8th September and I received my documents on 10th September.
Please do not send me any Private Messages as I do not check these.
