spouce dependant visa

Post by krssubbu » Thu Sep 17, 2009 8:31 am

Hi all,

I am new to dependant visa. I am getting married in the month of Jan and i want to bring my wife along with me to the UK in Feb. I am not aware of the guidelines. Could someone please help me out with this. What documents are needed and regarding the accomodation proof (currently i am staying in a single rented bedroom with NO bills on my name).

Thanks

Thanks Ramesh for your reply.

Also, regarding the accomdation i live in a single bedroom (rented). Do i need to take a double room or house in my name - 3 months before itself or can it be done after i bring her here. - also do i need any utility bills as proof of stay -

As per the HO there is no mandatory requirement to produce accomodation proof.. but ppl tend to be on safe side (i also did btw).. if you have Rental agreement for ur current single bedroom flat in ur name.. that shd be fine but if u are actually planning to move to 2bedroom flat after u bring ur wife to uk.. you can have a advanced rental agreement with the broker and u can produce the same.. again utility bills are not mandatory.. so it shd be fine..

Thanks Ramesh for your reply.

I am bit confused here. Do i need to move to the new house or room before my marriage. (should 3 months bank statements need to be on new house address ) OR can i still retain my present address and move once i get married (in this case can i show my present room contract - shared accomodation - it is a contract from private party - not estate agent)

please help.

Thanks

Where you stay has got nothing to do with whether you are married or not. The HO simply needs some evidence that you will be able to house and support your dependent. If you are currently in a shared acco, then get a copy of your lease agreement from the landlord and it will suffice. Again, this is not mandatory.

thank you all.

i am on the HSMP since Jan 2007. So do i need to show maintainence fund for spouse visa (some posts say before April 2007 - no need to show maintainence fund) if i have to then is it just £533 or £533 + £800 or more?
I have my visa extended and it is till 2012 so it is just for my wife.

Thanks
