College absence for over 1 year

Post by Tania58 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 7:45 pm

Hello Everyone
Thanks for a wonderful, mind opening forum, just found it and couldnt help but ask
My friend arrived in the UK over a year ago and hasnt been to college till now ,but her visa doesnt run out till end of 2011.
Question:Does she HAVE to inform inform immigration after deciding to go back to college?and what are the possible effects?
Many thanks

If she has a student visa and has failed to attend college for over a year, her visa could be cancelled by UKBA.
If she informs UKBA of her situation now, that's probably what they will do.
If she now is accepted for, and commences a course of study, and wants to apply to remain as a student when her visa runs out, she might be accepted if she can show satisfactory results for her course.

That's the easy part! It's the actual attendance and doing well, that really counts.
