Risks Of Sending Original Documents

Post by sjgul » Fri Nov 04, 2005 5:31 am

Hello Friends,

How safe is sending Degrees / other documents in Original (This may be quite safe for sending as we would be sending by some good Courier).

But how can we arrange for some courier for the documents to be picked as the HSMP team does not signs on the courier papers and sends the documents by Airmail.

How safe is receiving of the documents through Airmail. I am scared by some views and experiences expressed on this forum by some members and their documents being lost / misplaced.

Regds,
sjgul.

I've always sent stuff to the HO by special delivery and they have always returned them by recorded delivery. I have sent valuables like my passport and degree certificate and have always got them back exactly as I sent them.

You can use Fedex or DHL but ensure you call HO first and request for an exact address. These couriers do not deliver to PO boxes.

I would be sending the docs from India and Recorded delivery is possible only within UK.

For outside UK , they will send only by Airmail or through Courier with the condition that they will not even sign it. No courier is ready to pick the documents under these conditions and Airmail does not looks to be safe as it is not trackable and some fellows on this forum already misplaced their docs through Airmail.

Any body could help on this situation.

If posting something in the UK to go abroad there is something called "International Signed For". Things sent that way are automatically insured up to a certain value.

If posting from India to the UK, do you have the same sort of thing?

Hello John,

The issue is not sending the documents to HSMP team , I will send by the best courier. However the issue is collecting documents by same courier as they require signing of the documents by the shipping party (i.e. HSMP team / staff).

Is there any option available where in I can ask the courier persons to collect documents from HSMP staff without HSMP people to sign on them as no Courier is agreeing on picking them up without the shipping party signature.
