Inviting a parent: Minimum Monthly Bank Balance

Post by troyguy21 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 10:46 pm

Just moved this post here as suggested by a forum member. Hoping for favourable responses.

I left my home country 5 years ago on HSMP. Thanks to God and HSMPForum (JR), already got my ILR back dated to last year.

I have never travelled back home to see my parents but would like to invite my mum to visit. This is cheaper for me than taking my whole family back home.

As the sole sponsor I know I have got to send some months bank statements/Pay slips etc.

Housing her wont be a problem. I will be financially responsible for everything.

Please what is the minimum monthly bank account balance I MUST have for the past 6 months in order to qualify as a sponsor.

Also how many reasonable number of weeks can she apply for? I don't want her application to be refused so I count on you guys' experience.

Please note I have been having a balance of £1200 monthly, please would this be enough?

Many thanks.

There is no minimum or maximum amount that you have to have. You need to show you have money coming in regularly which can support your parents during their stay.

Visitors visas are normally valid for a maximum of 6 months. It depends how long she wants to stay. Normally 3 months is usually enough time to spend some good sociable time with your loved one. If she asks for to much , it may raise some doubts in the mind of the ECO.

Is this what you have coming in or is it your savings?. If its saving that are solely for the use of your mum during her stay, then I think it would be enough.

In my experience, a lot of the people that I have helped have around £2-3000 in savings, along with a monthly salary of of between £1000-1500 per month, which has enabled them to get visas succesfully.

The only problems with parents visas are that you have to show they have enough incentive to return home to after their visit and are not wanting to stay here permanatly

Thanks for your reply. £1,200 is the savings. She intends to spend about 2 months
