Hi..quick question!

What will be my child's nationality if born in UK - the father is british and im not, we are not married.

If one of the parents is british then the baby can claim british nationality;
I'm not sure about the fact that you are not married.....but If he is happy to go with you and register the baby I think you will be fine....
not sure however on the details.

in case if the parents are not married then the child gets the mothers citizenship status

I believe there is a provision in the rules that if the unmarried parents marry subsequently to the birth of the child, the child can get the father's nationality.

An old post but an important question which is not well understood:

1. If the mother has Irish citizenship, Indefinite Leave to Remain or Right of Abode, then child will automatically be British.

2. If the above doesn't apply, then the child needs to be registered as a British citizen. The Home Office *will* register the child of an unmarried British father as British (if the child would have been British otherwise) however they don't advertise this. You just have to make the application.
