Checklist of Documents in order to apply

Post by luigidavinci » Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:50 am

I have to say that I am a little bit confused about all the documentation needed in order to apply for a Visa. However, I think I have all the relevant material in order to do so, so tell me please if I am right. I'm a Mexican Ph.D student in Leeds.

1.- Online application (I'm applying from Mexico)
I understand that the online application replaces both the Application form VAF9 -PBS Migrant and the PBS migrant guidance notes, is that right?

2.- Appendix 8 for General Student.

3.- Passport Photograph (respecting all the indications about it)

4.- Visa Letter

5.- Supporting Documents officially translated mentioned in the Visa letter. In my case, just the certificate awarded by my MSc degree.

6.- Letter from my finantial sponsor stating the level of funds.

7.- Electronic Bank statement bearing an official stamp and officially translated and stating the final balance in pounds according to the OANDA website. Since my finantial sponsor doesn't cover the full fees, I will pay for the shortfall with the money held in this account.

8.- ATAS certificate.

9.- Copies of all submitted documents.

I suppose this is all I need. is it?

I only have a couple of questions more:

a) Reading the guide on http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... pbsstudent, it is stated that "You should provide full contact details for each document supplied", what does this exactly mean?

b) The original documents that we supply with the application, are they taken away for examination? when do we have them back?

c) The final balance in pounds must appear in both translated and original bank statement?, is it ok if I write, using pen, the legend "The final balance in pounds sterling up to the date this statement was issued is ---- pounds"?

d) The stamp form the bank is pretty simple, it just bears the logo from the bank and the legend "Vo.Bo." that in english would be something like "approved by" and then the signature of an executive person from the bank. is it alright?

Thanks in advance, I apretiate this forum a lot, it's such a release to find a place where to ask this questions and have them answered !!!!

I'm hoping to apply next Wednesday.

ALSO mention this on you additional information that how much you will pay and how much your sponser will pay although your visa letter must indicate that but as i have seen other people cases that caseworker sometime do balant error in calculating funds.

8.- ATAS certificate.

9.- Copies of all submitted documents.

YOU will get all your original documents back ie university degree, transcript after your application decision.
c) The final balance in pounds must appear in both translated and original bank statement?, is it ok if I write, using pen, the legend "The final balance in pounds sterling up to the date this statement was issued is ---- pounds"?
just write with the pen, write the oanda reference, date and currency rate and converteda amount.it will be fine
d) The stamp form the bank is pretty simple, it just bears the logo from the bank and the legend "Vo.Bo." that in english would be something like "approved by" and then the signature of an executive person from the bank. is it alright?
OK

Hi there ice_breaker!, I hope everything is in order to apply because the official start date of my course is October 1st, so I will be a couple of weeks late. I have spoken with an International officer in the University and they said there would be no problem.

Good luck to you too!!, by the way, where are you applying from?
