SENIOR MEMBER PLEASE CLARIFY!

Post by confusedhsmp » Thu Sep 24, 2009 4:02 pm

I am presently on Tier 1 visa in UK and would like to sponsor my cousin for vist.

My Cousin would be visiting on General Visitor Visa. However I am planning everything for him over here. Is a supporting letter fine to support his application or do i also need to sponsor him? the reason being he will be financially sponsoring himself.

PLEASE CLARIFY!!!!!

THANKS

Are you sponsoring him or inviting him?

Which is what, exactly? If he is paying for everything himself, then you are not sponsoring him! You are just inviting him! All you need to send is an invitation letter to him, proof of your immigration status in the UK and proof of your address (if he is going to stay with you). Bank statements and proof of returning to his home country will be up to him to provide.

Invitation letter? for what

I believe this would not be straight forward. He has to show close ties with his country like job, family and finances.

Would ECO not ask why he want to visit you in UK and why in uk.

Looking difficult to me.

For proof that he has been invited to holiday in the UK!
What other reason are 'invitation letters' for?
Lots of people visit family and friends in the UK! That is the whole point of visitor/tourist visas! So why would the ECO be surprised and ask the applicant why he wanted to go for a holiday in the UK, and not anywhere else? As if it was such a strange thing!
As long as he has an invitation, and is able to provide the other proofs I mentioned, there is absolutely no problem!
I have ALREADY said that his cousin would have to show 'proof of returning to home country'. This would be finances, family, job, etc. Or did I need to spell it out?
Nothing 'difficult' about it!

I agree with Rozen. Not as difficult as others make it out to be.

Rozen got it right. I am simply inviting him to stay with me over christmas. He will be paying for all his other expenses.

One other point here is that he is resident in Dubai for over 5 years not his home country.

He works full time in sales position with salary of just around £800/month + £800/month commission (on average). He is producing letter from his company regarding his employment.

What other proof would he need?
