Verification of qualification by NARIC

I have been taken for granted by a so called Immigration Consultant. He forwarded my HSMP application in Oct 04 and it was refused in Dec 04. He kept me in dark about this until he vanished from the scene in Jun 05.

HSMP team was kind enough to send me copy of their Decision Letter recently. I notice from the letter they have awarded 0 points to my professional qualification (Chartered Accountant Sri Lanka) on the ground they were unable verify it against UK NARIC database. I would be grateful if someone could advise me how I could get my professional qualification verified by UK NARIC. Thanks.

You could contact NARIC directly. There is a cost involved in it though.

Many thanks for the prompt reply. I have another question on the subject and would be grateful for reply.

My ex consultant had claimed 25 points for my professional qualification (CA) on the ground it is equivalent to Masters degree.This is because one of the qualification to be admitted to the CA course is a university degree.

Is that correct?

Not sure what assumptions your ex-consultant made.

You can look into the case workers guidance noteson educational points to get a good idea of how points are allocated.

IMHO, HSMP is fairly straightforward and applicants should apply directly. Consultants, no matter what they tell you, will only end up filling your application and posting it. There are bound to be minor complications in certain cases. Most issues have been exhuastively discussed on this forum and I would advise new members to look at the search facilities.

Thanks Mwazir once again for your assistance.

Regarding the query from fpvt2 I am not sure whether it is proper for me to reveal the name of my ex consultant in this forum.Suffice to say he is a British and he set up an (fligh by night)Immigration consultancy in Dubai in late 2003. But he never declared his name as representative in the HSMP application forms. He suddenly disappeared from the scene in Jun 05. The company is now run by someone else but the new management is not taking responsibility for the money paid to the ex consultant.

I understand your reason for not exposing the name of the consultant firm, bit may I know if the firm is accredited with OISC or not ? Thanks a lot.

My ex consultant is not accredited by OISC. As far as I know none of the Immigration consultancies operating in Dubai are accredited.

Thats probably the reason why he did not fill up the representative details on the forms.

If you need proffesional advise, its very important to use an OISCaccredited consultant only. You could also contact OISC and report unscrupulous advisers.

Thanks Mwazir for the information. I have one more question on this subject.

I have looked at the website of UK NARIC. As per their website I have to send them the following:

Photocopy of my certificate together with the final transcript

Covering letter stating the purpose of my enquiry

My question is whether I have to send some information about my Institute which awarded my chartered accountancy qualification to NARIC.

I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me.

for points caluclation how many point shoud we consider..

This subject has been throughly covered in this forum.Any subcontinental CA is considerd equivalent to a university degree and therefore earns 15 points.But if you just send your Indian CA certificate to HSMP team you will get 0 points as hapened to me.You have to first get your certificate verified by UK NARIC. You have to attach the the confirmation letter from NARIC along with your certificate.
