First of all, i am new to this forum and apoologise if these issues have been raised already although i have searched pretty thoroughly through previous posts. Also apologise if asking three questions under one subject not appropriate!
I am 24 year old junior doctor, british citizen, married for 2 years to a Ghanaian national. He has never been given any visa to this country mainly due to fact that i only just graduated and therefore was unable to sponsor him myself and relied on parents to do so. We are now attempting for first time to get residency 2 year visa, and we seem to fir all the criteria, however i have a couple of very specific questions which i can see as being possible pitfalls.
1) I never changed my name on my passport after getting married partly due to the cost of it (when i was a poor student!), and also because all my visa's and entry stamps of evidence of us spending many holidays together are in previous passport. I have changed everything else - ie driving license,NI,banks, work etc etc only passport with previous name.
I only have 2 weeks to get together all my documents..should i make a 1 day fast track appointment to get new passport? or will it make a difference?
2) I know i should provide budget with bank statements and prove that i have extra £101 a month. I am lucky enough to be earning a good wage not i am working but have spent most of my pay checks going back and forth to Ghana sorting out this visa and spending time with husband, If i prove that this is what i have spent my money on and provide a budget that would be realistic without this would this be acceptable also?
3) We are expecting to be interviewed at the british embassy in Ghana after we submit our application. We know it onvolves asking questions about each other, to see if our relationship is genuine but does anyone have any more information regarding this? I think we knnow each other well, but as he has never lived with me in my home environement i expect there will be many things he doesnt know about my life!
Sorry this i a mammoth post, any help would be so greatly appreciated
