Sanity Check

Post by andyb123 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:12 pm

Hi there, I'm heading out to Vietnam next week to get married (actually we're getting married in thailand as to get married in Vietnam I would need to go to the relevat office twice within one month, which isn't really practical for me)

I am a UK Citizen, born and rasied here, I met my fiance (wife as of next week) while I was living in Vietnam and I've returned to the UK to take over the family business and I'd like for here to come and live with me while I work in the business.

I'm currently on a salary of 25K PA, rising to 30K soon, and my wife is being offered a job on 15K PA.

at the moment I've only included the latest utility bills for water and electric - should I send more then one month, considering I'm including HMRC letters and certified copy of the land registry entry?

I have photos from our engagement party and will have photos of our registry office marriage in Thailand, however we are not planning on having a more formal wedding party/ceremony until we know that we have the visa sorted and I can then plan my finances accordingly, is not having photos of a "proper" wedding ceremony going to cause problems?

Can someone just check the following list of documents to check I have everything needed for my wife's visa application;

From my sponsorship letter;

I enclose documents for you to use in your visa application:

Accommodation
a letter from my parents inviting you to live with us;
Statement from the mortgage company confirming mortgage and ownership;
Certified copy of the Land Registry entry for the property showing ownership;
Letter from Clarke & Sons Solicitors regarding ownership & mortgage;
utility bills to prove ownership and residence at the house;
Letter from HMRC regarding *** Tax return as proof of residence at this address;
my bank statements and phone bills have this house as the address to prove my residence at this house;
PAYE Tax Coding notice to prove my occupation at this address;
Schedule and description of house with photos to show that this accommodation is suitable for the number of occupants (namely ** currently 3 people - 4 people when my wife comes, 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms and 3 living area's downstairs).

Finances & Employment
6 months Bank and savings statements and pay slips to show that I am in full time employment and that we will have enough money for our daily expenses;
a letter from the Managing Director of *** stating my future salary expectation and offer of employment for you from ***d.

Relationship
Although we do most of our day to day communication via Yahoo! Messenger, for which I have not retained transcripts, I have included my Skype log, phone bills and some photos we have to show we have known each other since at least May 2009 when I came back to the UK. Although we did first meet in February 2009 I no longer have my phone records from the time I was living in Vietnam to prove this definitively;
photos of our engagement party with your family in Tieng Giang and our marriage in Thailand;
Travel documents and hotel bookings from our travel to Thailand and Singapore;
You can also see in my financial statements payments for travel tickets to Vietnam as well as ATM cash withdrawals made in Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore.

I also enclose a certified copy of my passport as proof that I am a UK Citizen as well as the visa pages of my passport to show that I was present in Vietnam until May 2009 and my return visit in July and September.

I've just seen a thing about getting your local health department to inspect your accommodation to give you a certificate for entry clearence... is this a requirement for getting a spouse visa? or will I get by with the evidence I've listed about (namely a document written by and signed by my parents, with photos attached)

I'd get this done if I was you, just to be on the safe. Just call your local Enviromental Department at the council and someone will come round and measure the rooms and have a bit of a look round just to check it won't be overcrowed when your wife comes. My local council did it for free but some of them do charge.

we failed to get married in thailand due to a chicken up by the company we'd enlisted (they got the vietnamese documents wrong)... so I am now applying for a Fiance Visa instead and we aim to get married in the UK as soon as possible... I've submitted all the docs and emails from trying to get married in thailand along with my fiance's "certificate of no impediment" from vietnam, with english translation (as listed in the Fiance's list of supporting documents)

however... when my fiance went in to the VAC today, they asked her if we'd included a CNI for the sponsor... we haven't because they never listed anywhere that it was needed... we did include the affadavit witnessed by the british embassy in Thailand, but not a CNI from the UK

anyone know if this will cause a problem?
also, my fiance ticked yes for the CNI for the sponsor on a checklist they handed to her in Hanoi because she thought the affadavit from thailand was the same thing, again will ticking yes on the checklist cause a problem?

anyone know if you need to submit a Certificate of No Impediment (aka a certificate of freedom to marry) for the sponsor in a Fiance Visa?
