ILR and Financial issues...Please help

Post by pg5 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 12:40 pm

Hi guys,
Just need some guidance about financial issues for ILR application. I am applying for ILR (based on unmarried partner visa) soon but I am working Part-time. However my partner is doing full-time job with good salary. Do we both need to show our salary slips etc. Secondly is it good to show any savings? I am also a bit worried in the sense that my bank doesn’t provide paper statements. Just need to ask that is my payslips will not be enough to show that I am getting paid? I will be obliged if somebody can answer these questions.

Is it a high street bank ?

If it is you can go into a local branch and ask for a paper statement .

I am not a immigration expert , so you may get replies from others in which the statements may or may not be needed .. i will let the experts offer guidance on that :) .

Good luck with your case :)

no your payslips won't be enough as in the list of documents they specifically ask for bank statements for a specific number of months prior to the date you applied and beleive me they will ask you for them if you have not provided enough and this will just delay your application.

Safest things is to go to your bank and request the statements which they will provide

Thanks RattleSnake and Taliska
I was thinking that payslips will be enough evidence of my earnings. Anyway thanks again for this info. I will try my best to take these bank statements. My bank is a high street bank but they don’t provide paper statements for some accounts.

If you have a current account, which i'm guessing you probably do, then unless you opt out of receiving paper statements you should get a statement every month. If it's a savings account then it might not be monthly, i know that Nationwide provide savings accounts statements every 6 months.

You might also find that if you request copies of statements the bank might charge you for them.

Thanks Meats
It is a current account but they don’t provide paper statements. You are right, they ask some charges for it. I am not worry about charges but how long it will take can become a problem. Anyway thanks again for kind help.

The statement would at a guess be posted to you . With the current postal problems i would get this sorted well in advance .

If you go into your local branch they should have advisors , i think you need to see them rather than the "cashiers" .

It should be no problem asking for a paper statement

They charge for this now ? The banks sure do love the old bank charges huh ?

Hi guys,
Thanks for replies, I got some statements from my bank, they seem OK with my address and name on it, and with bank headed letter. BUT on the top of statement, it is written "Copy Statement". Do you think HO will accept it? Or I will ask my bank to mark their stamp also.
Any suggestions??
