EC questions

I will apply for EC in 1-2 weeks and I have some unresolved questions:

1. Do I need to show airplane tickets during EC? I have no idea when I exactly enter the UK...

2. I have no friends or relatives, so the same question is for hotel... I don't know when I will need it, and have no idea which hotel to book. Do I need to show booking during the EC?

3. My first visit to the UK will be short - 1-2 weeks. Do I still need to register with the police, or I can do it later when I will get a job and some permanent place to live?

4. And is it true that there is only one policy station for the whole London area (that registers foreigners) ?

(1) You dont have to, but if you do the first thing first, it will strengthen your case, show your eagerness.

(2) You must show proof of an accommodation, if not you will be refused


(3) If you are supposed to register with the police, you should as it would be on record that you have entered the country.


(4) Not sure about that.

(5) Have adequate fund in your statement.

As regards no. 4, yes just one place for the whole of the Metropolitan Police area, and that includes London :-

The office is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The nearest tubes are Borough on the Northern Line, London Bridge or Elephant and Castle.

As regards your no. 1, whether a ticket to the UK is needed when applying for your EC, I can't see how it would make any difference as to whether the EC is granted or not. Also I think you will tend to see warning signs saying not to buy tickets before the EC is granted. So I really would not advice you getting your ticket until after EC in your passport.

On Accommodation, you can book hostel or hotel accommodation(whichever one you prefer). You include confirmation of the hostel reservation as evidence of accommodation.

That is exactly what i did and there was no query on that at all
