Daughter's dependency visa now in old passport

Post by Jwana » Sat Nov 14, 2009 11:24 pm

Hi there

My daughter came with me to the UK in 2007 to settle here. At the time of receiving her dependency visa (as a result of me having right of abode & relocating to the UK) she was under 18. However, she has now just turned 20 and has just applied for a new Australian passport as her old one is nearly expired.

I am very confused as to her status now. Is she still able to stay in the UK on her old dependency visa? If so, what happens when she travels out of the UK? Should she take both passports with her & show her dependency visa at Immigration? Or is it possible to transfer the visa to her new passport - & if so, how can she do this?

Many thanks.

Jwana
