EC: how to make out the entry date?

Post by linux » Wed Nov 30, 2005 2:32 pm

Hallo, everybody!

I got HSMP approve at 17 Nov'2005 and have to apply for EC in next 3 months (i.e. before 17 Feb'2006). But I want to get EC with entry date from 1 March'2006. How can I do this?

If I will apply to EC now and will ask to open my entry date from 1 March'2006

will be it more effectively than

applying to EC at 1 Feb'2006 and asking them to open my entry date from 1 March'2006?

Thank you for your answer.

You can ask that the start date of the EC to be deferred ... for a maximum of three months! So :-
If I will apply to EC now and will ask to open my entry date from 1 March'2006
-: if you apply tomorrow ... 1st December ... or later .... then that should be OK.

Do appreciate that without a special request an EC will have a start date of the date it is printed. So it is very important to you to make it clear in a covering letter that you seek a 1st March 2006 start date.

John,

could you please explain: 3 months from what point?

If we add 3 months to 17 Nov'2005 point, than we will get only 17'Feb 2006.

But, as I've wrote at my first post, I want to start from 1 March 2006.

Thank you for the answer.

As I understand it, three months from when the EC application is approved. So to illustrate ... just picking a few dates "out of the air" to do so ... application submitted 1st December .... approved say 9th December ... ordinarily the start date would be 9th December ... but if you ask for a deferred start date it could be as late as 9th March 2006!

But I think you don't want a start date as late as that ... so your letter specifically needs to ask for a start date of 1st March 2006 ... or whatever is the desired start date.

Does that help?

Just one thing ... it is also my understanding that if you ask for a deferred start date in this way then you really are "stuck with it"! That is, if in accordance with your request your EC has a start date of 1st March 2006 ... it is not possible say mid-January to think of trying to get the start date brought forward at all.

Linux,

You must apply for EC within 3 months from the date of your HSMP approval letter i.e. in your case you must apply for EC before 17th Feb 2006 (as you have rightly stated).

At the time of making the EC application, you may request the start date of the EC to be postdated for a further maximum period of 3 months so that if you were to apply on 17th Feb 2006, you could request that the EC start date be postponed latest to 17th May 2006. If you want EC no earlier than 1st March 2006, you can lodge application on 1st Dec 2006 and ask that start date of EC be post dated to 1st March 2006.

Hope this makes sense.
