settlement visa

dear sir/ma, i appled for a settlement visa and has been issued on the 10th of november 2009,due to somethings i am doing presently,i mean work,i would like to travel on the 24th december 2009 to the united kingdom,would it affect my visa when i want to renew it?also please how long can i stay in my home country in one year whenever i decide to go visiting my country?

What kind of settlement visa have you got? . Is it a spouse visa or something else?.
