Switching from Tier1 (PSW) to Tier 4

Hi,

I'm currently holding a Tier 1 PSW visa and planning to switch to Tier 4 student visa. The thing is, my Tier 1 will expire in May 2010 but my studies do not start until August 2010. Can I still apply for the student visa and stay in the UK from May-Aug 2010 or do I have to go back in those few months.

Another question is about the funds. Do I need to show the HO that i have funds to support myself during my studies in my UK bank account or can I show them a copy of my parent's bank statement from back home. This will reduce a lot of hassle having to have my parents transfer the money to me in the UK and for me to transfer it back to them once the visa is approved.

As far as I remember you cannot SWITCH from Tier 1: PSW to anything. You must leave the country and apply for Tier 4: Student in you home country.

Regarding the funds. I am pretty sure that your parents' bank account would be fine but double check this just to be sure.

I think you can switch from a PSW to Tier 4..check the link out..unless I'm reading it wrong...
