advise needed

hi everyone
i am posting on behalf of a friend of mine.
he got married to an EU national back in 2004.
at the time of marriage she was working so he had a residency card for 5 year.
early this year he sent his application for PR the home office is now requiring some documents about her exercing her treaty since 2004.
the thing is since early 2005 she stop working and they never claim any benefit as he was doing 2 jobs .
the question is

what information should he give to the HO ?

did he stand a chance for renewal?
