Hi,
I am a U.S. citizen planning to study for my Master's next fall/winter in London. I would like for my boyfriend of 4 years (also a U.S. citizen) to come with me. According to the UK Border Agency site, I think he would fall in the "Spouses, Partners and Dependants of Tier 4 (General) Students" category or something like that. The information regarding supporting documentation is pretty vague. Does anyone know exactly what kind of documentation we would have to provide to prove that he is an eligible partner? Also, how difficult is it to obtain such a Visa? Would we be better off if we got married? Thanks in advance.

We have already talked about getting married before. We just always wanted to wait until we have enough money to throw a good celebration and be able to invite all our family and friends. We would prefer not to have a rushed celebration just because we have to for visa reasons. It's not we're not committed (we've already been living together almost 3 years), it's just that we'd prefer to have such a big event when we're more financially ready. Especially now that we're saving money for England. That's why we'd prefer to go as partners, but in all, if it's unlikely to happen, we would rather go through with a rushed wedding than have to scrap the school plans.
