Hello,

Can a US citizen form a company in UK? Anybody has such experience?

Yes that is possible, there is no restriction whatsoever.

One thing that needs to be added is that in the UK any director of a company needs to disclose their nationality, so it would tend to be obvious if, for example, all the directors of the company were US citizens.

Also every company in the UK needs to have a Registered Office here .... that is really an official legal address for the company.

In short, the answer is YES, any citizen can the technically form a company and become a director as per the Companies house/ DTI norms.

Having said that, after you form the company, it all gets a bit tricky and I don’t think there is a clear legislation linking/integrating an immigrant's status with respect to the individual norms specified by the following departments.

- Directorship Vs trading norms (DTI )
- Immigration Status (IND - Home Office)
- Eligibility to work (WP/ DWP /HSMP etc - Home Office)
- Tax Submission/Returns (HMRC - the Revenue)

That’s why Mr Gordon Brown is spending a lot and soon be a time by click of a button - telling where all we have the footprints.
