Please can you advise as a UK citizen. I recently married in Moscow, russia and want to apply for the UK spouse settlement visa for my wife. Do we need to register the marriage with the british embassy before we apply for the spouse visa. thanks

If your marriage is valid, then she should be ok.

Referring to OP's multiple similar threads, I'd warrant the OP's spouse would still be subject to a ban for false papers....
