URGENT - the postcode?

Post by raj » Sat Oct 08, 2005 3:55 pm

Hi there

Web site says:

Extension applications should be submitted two months before your leave to remain as a Highly Skilled Migrant expires.

You must submit:
• A fully completed FLR(IED) application form.
• The correct payment.
• Any original documentation required to support statements made on the FLR(IED) application form.

These should be sent to:

Work Permits (UK) - FLR (IED)
Home Office
Walsall Road
Cannock
WS11 0WS

FLR FAQ at Wed site says:

6.Where shall I send the FLR(IED)?

For postal applications the FLR(IED) form should only be sent to the address below:

Work Permits (UK) - FLR(IED)
Home Office
Walsall Road
Cannock
WS11 0WS

FLR (IED) Latest form and guidance notes says:

Work Permits (UK) -FLR (IED)
Home Office
Walsall Road
Cannock
WS11 0JA

there is a difference in post code, please help me which address to be used for sending my application for HSMP Extension.

regds
Raj

Papafaith,

WS11 0WS is the old post code and the FLR(IED) applications now show a different address with the post code of WS11 0JA. The website for some reason has not yet been updated to reflect the same. I sent my FLR application in Oct to WS11 0JA without a problem.

Raj, You can have this confirmed by calling up the numbers given in the FLR(IED) guidelines.

Hello,
We recommend that you use

" Recorded or special delivery" , as this helps us to record the receipt of your application.

What is this "Recorded or speical Delivery"

Thanks

If Recorded Delivery is used any compensation will be limited to 100 times the cost of a first class stamp for an item weighing 60 grams .... so the limit is currently merely £30 .. totally insufficient when valuable documents are being enclosed. Not only that Recorded Delivery letters are not treated specially by the Royal Mail, except the signature on delivery.

Instead use Special Delivery. OK this costs about £4 but is well worth it. A much higher level of compensation in the unlikely event of it going astray but Royal Mail do protect Special Delivery letters much better, so little chance of loss. A signature is obtained on delivery.

Thanks John,

I will certainly use Special Delivery to send extension papers to the Home office.

Is there any way I can receive the documents back the same way from home office to my house address??

I meant to say will it be possible for the home office to send my document by Special Delivery??

Thanks,

Indeed, yes! Go to a Post Office and ask to buy a prepaid Special Delivery envelope. Self-address that and include it in the envelope sending the application to Cannock. If you do that IND will use that prepaid self-addressed Special Delivery envelope to return your documents to you.

Indeed while you are at the Post Office buy two prepaid Special Delivery envelopes. You can enclose one with the application, and use the other to post the application etc.. Then when you are ready you just take that envelope into a Post Office, get the receipt stamped and handed back to you .. no more money to pay!

Before you send the application you might like to make a note of the tracking number of the envelope you are sending them. That way you can track to see if it has been posted yet. We did that when my wife applied for naturalisation (NCS had not started then). So one evening when I checked it did not come up with the usual "number not known" feedback but instead it confirmed it had been posted but not yet delivered. Needless to say it was delivered the next morning!
