Irish visitor visa question

My mom, a resident of Nepal, is planning to visit the US for 6 months and then visit Ireland. She's been to Ireland many times before, but it was always directly from Nepal. Not sure what her options are for obtaining an Irish visa in this case, but here are my questions:
- Can she apply for the Irish visa at an Irish consulate in the US? Or does she have to obtain it from Nepal, before she leaves for the US?
- Once she gets the visa, is there a deadline by which she has to enter Ireland?
- How long can she be in Ireland on a visitor visa? Is that still determined at the port of entry?

==> She needs to apply for it in Nepal.

==> usually this is 90 days..she has to enter within the date printed on her visa.

==> She can't stay for more than 90 days. it's determined at the port of entry.. her return ticket will definitely help in staying for the max of 90 days.

Thanks for the response. She wants to be in the US for 6 month, but looks like that's impossible if she also wants to visit Ireland. Irish visa application for Nepal is processed in New Delhi, India, by mail. Since it's done by mail, I wonder if it's possible for her to apply from the US, just a couple of months before her US stay is over. Is there a rule that requires her to get the Irish visa before she leaves Nepal?

Not sure about this but your 90 days start the day your enter Ireland. Suppose visiter visa was issued from 01/01/10 for 90 days and you enter Ireland 01/03/2010, then your 90 days start from 01/03/2010. Now how advance u can apply for Visa your best bet is to call these guys

I don't see why she can't apply for a visa from the US. Where does it say that you have to apply in your country of origin. This would make no sense. She can bring along evidence that she will return to Nepal anyway.

Tourist visas when issued are usually valid for up to 3 months from date of issue, that is, you must enter with 3 months. The duration varies up to a maximum of 3 mths.

You can always call your nearest Irish Embassy (are you in the US?) and ask for their advice on this.
