Dependent Visa Delay; Update : BACKLOG

It has been 8 weeks since I had sent the application for the dependent visa of my newborn son. I had no communication with UKBA except the acknowledgement letter. I do not know hom much more time this is going to take.

Anyone in the same boat? Please write down your status if you are also waiting eternally for that visa.

If some of the learned members can also please advise if a delay in processing the applications from the UKBA has been observed in the last couple of months on account of the holiday season, it will be much appreciated.

Just called the UKBA regarding the progress of my application. They did mention that there has been a BACKLOG in processing the cases due to the holiday season and the bad weather over the last month. Is it normal for UKBA to give this explanation or does it seem a genuine reason????
