You can search the forum for some posts similair to this. Apparently the recent trend of HSMP approval letters is that you can use it both for EC or in country Further Leave to Remain (FLR). This is something you could not do in the past. Out of country approvals could not be used for FLR and incountry approvals could not be used for EC. There is a cost of £335 when you send in an FLR application.

There is no such thing as a post dated approval letter. Your approval documents have already been issued to you. When going for EC you could have requested for a post dated visa by 3 months which the EC may or may not agree to. You cannot do that when applying for FLR

Dear Vinu,

While on HSMP you can always change the job, which is not the case with workpermit. And if u decide to leave the job (with workpermit) in the UK, you have to return back to your country within 28 days. Hence my personal opinion is that you should consider going on HSMP instead of workpermit. The only concern is you will have to take your employer in confidence for this.
