Can we move to Canada?

Post by bills » Sun Jan 08, 2006 3:37 pm

My wife and I would love to move to Canada. I am a police officer and she is a teacher. Would either of us be able to work in Canada? Will they recognise my wifes teaching qualifications and if so will she be able to find a job? We are aiming for the Calgary area.
Any helpful advice is appreciated.

Read the FAQ and in particular the links to the federal government's immigration department = Citizenship and Immigration Canada then come back with specific queries.

His question is very specific and to the point. He is simply asking can they work in their field? For which the answer is NO.
No you cant work as a police officer and she cant work as a teacher.
Please contact your professional boides. You have to upgrade your skills complete the shortfall and then apply for job as a teacher. For a police officer no chance to work as a police officer. You have to look for an alternative.

With respect the OP's opening statement and I quote is:
bill wrote:My wife and I would love to move to Canada.
From this I deduce he desires to emigrate to Canada - it follows the matter of employment comes up hence my suggestion of a review of CIC's page vis a vis the federal government's long standing immigration programme to view the routes option and how this fit into their skills base/ work experience. Such also explains the professions and restrictions (via links as applicable) to include where permanent residence is a criteria such as the police service. In this way the OP can make a well informed judgment as to whether he may even proceed to Canada in the first place. This is known as working from first principles

I make no apologies for lacking severe tunnel vision by thinking of the query in its entirety but thanks for your heads up anyway...I'm sure the OP has some use for it.
