Mimimum number of Rooms for 3 person

Post by sajidmahmood » Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:34 pm

Hello,

A friend has 2-years old daughter in the UK. She wants to sponsor her husband in near future. what is the minimum number of rooms required for a family of three? If you rent 2 ground floor rooms from a property consisting of 5 rooms in total. Do you need to mention the details of other people living in the property on visa application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two rooms (one can be the living room, but I dont recommend that as it would be pretty awkward). Yes if there will be other people sharing you would need to mention that it's a shared residence and get a housing inspection report to show that it won't be overcrowded.
I tell it like it is.

Contact estate agent and they will help you with the survey report of the property and guide your through the whole procedure, the only draw back is that they are expensive.
Cheers.

Are you sure 1-bedroom and 1 living room(used as bedroom) will be enough to satisfy visa requirements? Also do you need a letter from the landlord if all council taxes and utility bills are included in the rent for this shared property?

Thanks

Yes it will be enough provided it's husband, wife, and child. The letter from the landlord couldn't hurt.
I tell it like it is.

See also the maintenance and accommodation section of UK Visas, in particular MAA14.

Since the house is in multiple occupation the sponsor needs 2 rooms. Best to get a letter from the landlord and other tenants to say they are happy for her husband to stay in the house. She'll need to include the tenancy agreement. She can either get a 'property inspection' report from her local council (if they do one), estate agent, etc or prepare one for her self (that's what I did as the property inspection reports are v.expensive where i live)

Good point. I forgot about that. OP you need a letter from the other occupants stating that they're okay with other people living there.
